TVEd BOOK AWARDS 2024!

After a term of reading, children across the trust had the chance to vote for their favourite books, and join peers from all our schools at Teesside University to celebrate and find out the winners!

Through the awards, schools have had a combined total of over three thousand books injected into their libraries and classrooms, as well as had the opportunity to talk with over forty authors, giving all children amazing experiences and teaching them about writing, and the importance of reading for pleasure.

This year, we had two fantastic categories picture books and chapter books – with books featuring a diverse range of characters and plots including inventors, wizards, explorers from other worlds, French penguins and the son of death! We were also fortunate enough to be joined for the day by two of the writers themselves – Helen Peters and Andy Ruffell who dazzled the audience with their presentations throughout the ceremony.

In the end the winners by incredibly small margins were Ryan Hammond’s incredible, humorous tale ‘Villains Academy’, and the superb ‘Nabil Steals A Penguin’ written by Nishani Reed. Both authors were delighted to win, and sent messages to be played at the event. As well as this, children from all academies were rewarded with free books for their outstanding efforts in reading, linked to the Diamond Standards of our trust. We are looking forward to reading more new books next year!
